The page tree and site/content/ folder tree are intentionally the same. A folder that contains content also contains an index.md, which is the real page at that folder route. This avoids hidden storage categories and makes the repository itself a readable map of the site.
The top-level roles are:
/briefings/**,/reviews/**, and/concepts/**— actual knowledge content,/about/**— project, collection, research-practice, and publishing explanations,/operations/**— editorial operations for contributors and agents, and/maintenance/**— technical implementation and upkeep.
The reader header appears throughout About, Briefings, Reviews, and Concepts. It places the Emergence wordmark and compact Search, theme, and reader controls above four primary destinations: Briefings, Reviews, Concepts, and About. Operations and Maintenance retain Quartz’s Explorer because they are working references rather than primary reader destinations.
About’s overview routes to Purpose, Scope, About Briefings, About Reviews, About Concepts, Research, Publishing, and Updates. Its body is the route directory, grouped as Project, Collections, and Practice. Collection explanations stay under About; the documents they explain stay under their matching collection trees.
Reviews exposes Overview, Paper Reviews, Topic Reviews, and About Reviews in its section navigation. Concepts exposes its real subject indexes. Briefings exposes Overview and About Briefings. About descendants show only their current contextual group; About Research adds a second row for Overview, Method, and Tools. Briefing and Review items use their format as a short eyebrow instead of Quartz’s full breadcrumb.
At 1201 px and above, the 46rem reading column stays on the viewport’s center axis while the page-local Table of Contents occupies a balanced sticky left rail. At 1200 px and below, it moves between the page header and article. Pages without extracted headings do not reserve an empty rail.
The /briefings and /reviews routes automatically collect eligible entries from their corresponding frontmatter collections. /reviews/paper and /reviews/topic are real index pages rather than hidden storage folders. Former /research, /investigations/**, and /wiki routes remain compatibility aliases.
