This page is a register for research tools and sites. It is intentionally sparse until individual services have been evaluated in real research.
What belongs in this register
Add a service only when its role is clear. Useful categories may include:
- scholarly literature discovery,
- official documentation and standards,
- public datasets,
- code and model repositories,
- citation and identifier lookup, and
- web archives or version history.
What to record for each service
Each entry should state:

| Purpose | The research task for which the service is useful |
| Canonical output | The original paper, document, dataset, or repository it helps locate |
| Coverage | The fields, publishers, or material it includes |
| Limitations | Missing sources, indexing delay, ranking bias, or access constraints |
| Verification step | How a result is checked against the canonical source |
| Status | Candidate, approved for a specific use, or retired |
Approved site register
No research service has yet been approved for shared use. This avoids turning a familiar search tool into an undocumented source policy.
Adding a new tool
Before adding a service:
- test it on a real research question,
- confirm where its links and metadata originate,
- record important coverage or access limitations,
- specify whether it is for discovery or evidence, and
- review the entry before treating it as shared practice.
